Camp & Class Information

Fee pays for youth club membership and a luge t-shirt too!  All instruction & equipment is provided.  All sessions take place at Lucy Hill.  See map on our Contact & Directions page.

Youth should arrive dressed warmly (we will be outside the entire class session), and they should bring water, preferably tagged with their name. (We do not have running water onsite.  We do have a port-a-potty.)  Youth must be physically comfortable getting up from ground level and able to pull a sled.  They must be able to hear and mature enough to follow the adult coaches' instructions.

PAPERWORK:
  1. The online registration will ask for youth age, shirt size, shoe size, (and helmet size if known).

  2. The parent or guardian must complete the required registration packet for each registered youth, and bring it to the first session.  You can print at home, or ask to get a copy via the luge club / your school.

The packet includes a liability waiver, membership form (including evidence of health insurance), and concussion policy awareness form.  Youth can not participate unless the parent or guardian has completed all three required forms.

  3. Optional, for students who want to advance into sliding on more of the hill:
To progress beyond the public sliding area as a club member, you must achieve necessary skill requirements and have this annual medical form completed.  The form has pages filled by the parent and ALSO a page that must be filled and signed by the primary care provider (physician, nurse practitioner, or physician's assistant).
  • For healthy youth, doctor's offices will typically allow you to drop off the medical form page to be filled out and signed by the clinician, without scheduling a new appointment, as long as the youth has had a checkup within the last 12 months.
You can print the required registration packet from the links below.  Form copies are also available locally by contacting the club, and may also be available via local schools.  Required packet of three forms must be complete at start of first session.

Safety is an important part of the international rules of luge.  Regulations address areas such as track design, track inspections, medical arrangements, and athlete's equipment.
In 1991, the engineering consultants for the track's 36,000 watt lighting system received an international "Illuminations Design Award".
